Hershey Rotary Club celebrates the recognition of long-time club member Dr. Tom Davis and Milton Hershey School student Leila Asemani on May 2, 2015 at the District 7390 conference.  Dr. Tom Davis, club President 1993/1994 and District Governor 2003/2004, was presented with Rotary International's Service Above Self Award.  Annually, only 150 of those are bestowed worldwide.  Tom was recognized for providing multiple service visits to perform plastic surgery related operations on disadvantaged people who without his help would not be able to afford such care.  These operations were performed in developing countries throughout the world.  Furthermore, working with his brother, he has made eight visits to India to help build a school and orphanage for underprivileged children.

Leila Asemani , Milton Hershey School junior, was awarded first place in the Rotary District 7390 speech contest .  Leila’s speech focused on the need for parents and mentors to raise the bar and challenge today’s youth to be better for themselves and those around them.    This is the third year in a row that a student from a Hershey school has been selected as a first-place winner in the Rotary District 7390 speech contest.
