It happened on Tuesday evening, right after dark! Rotarians began arriving to greet each other and toast the moonlit night as the Hershey Halloween Parade slithered by for over an hour. The following Members were spotted at least once at or near the event, in the following order: KirkS/DianaRLarryD/ShelP/HaroldN/DougN, who drove YukiM, who saw Americana up close at its finest from the back of a TR6/MarkM/TracyC/SusanS/SusanC/VickiH/SteveG/MikeK/PamW/MariaT. And there were many spouses, family members, and friends. And not on stage but delivering, or sending in, donations LeslieI and FrankP.
Spirited conversation and remarkable generosity lit up the sky as the pints for polio cauldron slowly filled up with fives and tens and twenties--and yes fifties and hundreds. Rotarians and several other guests and neighbors all contributed in what could only be described as scary merry caring!
It was that kind of night. More pints were consumed, and when it all over but the shouting, the cauldron yielded $592 dollars!!! That will be triple-matched by the Gates Foundation, which means we are way over $2000 for this year's campaign. Not bad for a bunch of clowns parading around and vicariously living the life of a stylish small village. But who are you going to believe? Me or your eyes. check it out at https://youtu.be/m4sfeEgnodE
If anyone still wishes to add to the pints for polio cauldron, it will be at the Club meeting on Monday, which marks our first Students of the Month recognition.
See you then!
