Dear Rotarians,

At last Monday’s meeting, the Club hosted 17 local service and cultural organizations that we support as part of our mission to impact the quality of life for local residents. Recipients spoke about the purpose of their organization and how the funds would be used to enhance its role. It was very inspiring to meet and hear from such highly dedicated members of the community, and to realize the multiplier effect of our Club’s donations. Additional organizations not at the luncheon will hear from us by mail.

At the same time, on a global scale, we are supporting training for healthy babies in Ghana, educational programs for healthy families in Ecuador, and have set in motion conflict resolution opportunities for youth in Nigeria.

This annual award event accounts for the bulk of our accumulated funds from the auction/banquet, so make plans already to join in that effort next April.

The afore-mentioned activities constitute a measure of our commitment toward making a difference. And, as the season for caring, and sharing is upon us, we are thankful that we can share our treasure of service and funds with over 50 well-deserving individuals and organizations from the youth exchanges, to community activities, to student scholarships, and to global grants. May those connections always be strong and meaningful!

As we celebrate our legacy and reaffirm our purpose, please plan to join Club Members at the following two lunches during December.

On December 9, the Club will hold an Assembly at which we will take stock of what we have been doing and where we are headed in realizing our vision and goals. Come share your wisdom and, at the same time, sign up for upcoming activities. There will also be a collection for the food bank at that meeting.

On December 16, at the annual festive Christmas lunch (and the last meeting of this year), we will have an opportunity to illustrate the primary object of Rotary, the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service. There is, indeed, great cause for such fellowship and camaraderie, (with music from Milton Hershey School Guitar Ensemble), so please plan to attend with your spouse or friend to celebrate our core values: using the ideal of service, as global citizens, to make a difference to others in the form of food, shelter, health, education, sustainability, economic stability, and conflict resolution. Truly a cause for celebration!

Very best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season and a fulfilling New Year.
