Hershey Rotary Presents 2012 Service Awards
On June 11, Hershey Rotary Club presented two awards to individuals who exemplify the Rotary tenet of “Service above Self.” The Community Service award was presented to Marge and Tony Panettieri for their many of volunteer hours at several community organizations, including The Hershey Story, Hershey Gardens, Manada Conservancy, St. Joan of Arc Knights of Columbus and the Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society. The Panettieris were instrumental in securing the Historical Society’s present home on Northeast Drive and together have contributed nearly 2000 toward educational programs at The Hershey Story and Gardens. The Hershey Rotary Club annually chooses one of its own members to receive the Packy Award, named for former Rotarian “Packy” Payne. This year former club president Ray Cameron was recognized for his service as a Trustee of Elizabethtown College and as an Advisory Board Member of the Susan P. Byrnes Health Education Center, his leadership at the Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society and at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hershey, and his thirty years of volunteering with Boy Scouts of America. Both Cameron and the Panettieris received a monetary award, which they donated to the Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society.
