The Hershey Rotary Club, along with Penn State Harrisburg’s International Affairs Association (Rotaract) and the Hershey Community Youth Alliance (Interact) each donated $2,000 in support of Wheelchairs for Nigeria. Nigeria has more polio victims than any other nation in the world. This donation will provide forty 3-wheeled, self-pedaled wheelchairs made out of bicycle parts for $150 each. These wheelchairs transform the lives of polio survivors, giving children the opportunity to attend school and adults the ability to get vocational training to become self-supporting. Since 1979, Rotarians from around the world have been committed to the eradication of Polio. Since then, Polio has been reduced by 99%. We are closer than ever to ending this crippling disease forever.
