The next Monday meeting will be on October 31 when Jim McMahon presents a program entitled Sure to Attract Much Attention: The Promotional Genius of Milton S. Hershey.  Chocolate magnate Milton S. Hershey founded the Hershey Chocolate Company in 1894. An innovative and resourceful manufacturer, Hershey also applied his creativity to publicizing his products and the model company town of Hershey.  This presentation is a visual journey chronicling four effective promotional initiatives utilized by Hershey during the early years of the twentieth century.  Highlights include a little-seen clip from a 1915 silent film containing street scenes of the town of Hershey as well as a 1927 silent film featuring an early example of cinematic product placement. Jim McMahon is the Director of School History and Curator of High Point Mansion at the Milton Hershey School.  He is the author of several books about Hershey. The meeting will be in Cocoa 1/Terrace at Noon.
